William Smith
aka Bill Smith
Avionics Principal Specialist — IFC / Satcom / Linux
Born and raised in Harpenden, UK, Bill went from Batford Juniors to Manland Secondary School, now St John Lawes, before an early fascination with aircraft took him to a position with Britannia Airways and Hatfield Poly, today the University of Hertfordshire, and a degree in Aeronautical Engineering.
What started as a love of flight became a life spent around it. Aircrew and avionics training carried him to airfields, hangars and training centres around the world, and a career across aviation, satellite communications and networking has kept him moving ever since, from AOG call-outs and VVIP flight decks to satellite and Data Comms in both ground stations and in flight, on several continents.
Still curious, still hands-on, and happiest solving the problem no one else can.
